Overview
The Jordan Board of Directors on January 21, 2021 announced a new initiative, the Jordan Neighborhood Micro-grant opportunity through Jordan Area Community Council. The Jordan Neighborhood Micro-grants exist to broaden engagement efforts—with support from the City of Minneapolis—in order to better reach underrepresented populations.
Jordan Neighborhood Micro-grants support select engagement activities that align with resident interests, as it relates to:
Urban Agriculture
Environmental Justice
Housing
Transportation
Public Safety
Land Use
Jordan Neighborhood Micro-grants range from $600 – $2,500 to conduct engagement.
Requirements
Qualified individuals, non-profits and community organizations must be well-connected to the community in North Minneapolis, especially the Jordan neighborhood, and they must have previous experience engaging that community.
Selected individuals, non-profits and community organizations must do the following:
1. Identify the residents that will be targeted through engagement efforts;
2. Develop an engagement plan to 1) share information about Jordan Area Community Council with the target group, 2) share information about the proposed activity with the target group 3) gather input from the target group about the activity idea and 4) Include Jordan Area Community Council information in marketing and advertising materials.

Pre-Proposal Information Session
An applicant preproposal information session will take place on Monday, February 1, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Central Standard Time. The session provides an opportunity for applicants to receive guidance on grant activities, events and resources.

Proposal Review & Selection
Jordan Neighborhood Micro-grants are administered through the Jordan Area Community Council. The grants consist of a competitive application and review process with selection by a Community Review Committee. The selection process encompasses several areas consistent with application requirements.
Applicants are encouraged to incorporate key components, including: place-based strategies, community-centered approaches and effective engagement activities.
Report Form
Awardees will provide two reports, documenting their engagement activities and the input they have gathered using the report form. The first report will be due on June 30, 2021. The second report will be due August 31, 2021. All reports must be submitted via email to Cathy Spann, Executive Director, at [email protected].
