Why Did you Join JACC’s Board?

“I decided to join the board because my church, Proverbs Christian Fellowship, is in the Northside community and I wanted to be able to be a voice for the parishioners.

What are some of the intitativers and projects that JACC has done while you’ve been a board member that you’ve been most excited or proud of?

“Jordan Week of Kindness speaks to my feelings on how a neighborhood association or community organization should go about doing their work, by directly addressing residents needs. Jordan Week of Kindness is a great strategy for how we can put our words into community action!”

How long have you been in the Jordan Neighborhood?

“I came to Minnesota in 1961, left for awhile, and came back to the Northside in 1992”

What encouragement would you give to those who are considering joining the Board of Directors or one of JACC’s committees?

“Its a great organization to participate in! I believe that Cathy [JACC’s Executive Director] sets a great example of someone who is trying to do work and have relationships and be visible in the community. Her passion trickles down. JACC is a great example of a neighborhood association that makes accommodations and allows your voice to be heard”accommodations and allows your voice to be heard.”

What is something you enjoy doing outside of JACC? Hobbies?

” I Like to fish, camping, swimming, I love Minnesota, it encapsulates all the interests I have! I also play baseball and going to baseball games and am very interested in Negro League history and memorabilia.”

What is your favorite hidden (or not so hidden) gem of the Minneapolis?

“I would say the chain of lakes that includes Bde Maka Ska, Lake of the Isles, & Lake Harriet. There’s not a week that goes by that my family doesn’t visit those chains of lakes.”
