SEPTEMBER Listening Session TOPIC: The Marriage Amendment and the Power of Voting

A Minnesota Same-Sex Marriage Amendment will appear on the November 6, 2012 ballot  in MN as a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment.[1] The measure would define marriage in the Minnesota Constitution as between one man and one woman in the state.[2]

Unlike previous, unsuccessful attempts to place a marriage amendment on the ballot, the 2012 measure may leave open the possibility of same-sex civil unions. ( –source: Ballotpedia.org)

Join us as Minnesotans United for All Families‘ guest speakers Jim Lawser and Duane Bandel will talk about the amendment, the campaign, and the wider implications of the amendment on your life and community. While JACC publicly supports voting NO against the Marriage Amendment, we invite you so you can make your own  informed voting decision.
